This Saturday at 7PM the Clean Part Reading Series, in conjunction with The Drift Station, will host a joint reading by Lisa Fishman and Danielle Pafunda. The Drift Station is located on the Northwest corner of 18th & N; I would suggest showing up a few minutes early so you can sign-in with me, get a good seat, or check out the artwork, etc. Remember, make sure you bring something to jot-down notes with and on. Specifically, you'll want to listen for particular images, lines, phrases, or passages that you find compelling, unique, or noticeable. Based upon these notes, you'll need to compose a 1-page, single-spaced response in Times New Roman, 12-point font with one-inch margins. The response should not be a narrative of the event and your experience, but, instead, should be your thoughts and understandings of the poet's words that you recorded. Responses are due the following Monday, October 3rd in class.
For Monday's class, you will also need to have read pages 111-141 in Kinzie (i.e. Diction and Layers of Meaning), which we will discuss in class.
Finally, you will need to email me a digital copy of the 2nd draft of a new poem by 10PM on Sunday night, as well as bringing a hard-copy of that same poem to class the following day. Make sure, as always, to write your prose meditation first, then read the Kinzie material before revising your prose into verse.
Obviously, you have plenty to do this week for this course, so don't wait until the last minute.
